State Route 50 is an east–west state route located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. The route travels from SR 52 in Lula to Lake Hartwell north of the city of Hartwell.

Route description

From its western terminus at State Route 52 in Lula, State Route 51 travels east to Homer. After travelling a short distance on a former alignment of U.S. Route 441, the route continues east, passing through rural parts of Banks and Franklin counties. The route has an interchange with Interstate 85 west of Carnesville. West of Franklin Springs, the route takes on a somewhat odd routing; it becomes cosigned with State Route 145, and the two routes travel to the north-northwest for a short distance, before State Route 51 departs and continues east to Canon. In Canon, State Route 51 becomes cosigned with State Route 17, and the two routes travel northeast to Bowersville, where State Route 51 departs and continues to the east. Just to the west of Hartwell, the route becomes cosigned with State Route 77, and the two routes travel east into downtown Hartwell. In Hartwell, State Route 51 departs and travels north, crossing backwaters of Lake Hartwell before ending at a boat ramp on the lake.

State Route 51 is a somewhat minor route in the region, though the route does see a significant amount of traffic near Homer and Hartwell, including the cosigned portion with State Route 77, which sees an Average Annual Daily Traffic of over 10,000 vehicles.[1]
